The first time I played, I acted as a hero trying to save Halcyon. ![]() Playing this after I experienced Fallout 3 last year helps me to better appreciate this game's lineage. This time I decided to do a heel run as a Board lackey. Although I had not intended to replay the game only two years after initially playing it, I am glad that I reentered the Halcyon system. I wish the main character had a voice over, though! They will also pop up in dialogues you start with NPCs and add some lines in an organic way. Picked up all companions now and I love the companion dialogue. That planet is huge and has so much to do. Already enough of a killing machine as it is, no need to add to the pile unnecessarily! Almost twenty hours in, almost half of that I spent on Monarch only. I also like that you can talk your way out of many situations and I'm making good use of that. Less DPS, but higher single shot damage suits my playstyle. Recently switched the assault rifle with a more sniper-y hunting rifle, which works out well for me. ![]() You don't switch equipment often, not least of all because of the crafting system that lets you continually improve your stuff, so that it's tough to find a sensible replacement for a setup you already like. I switched upwards, but am afraid I already voided the achievement for completing on Hard. I should have started the game on Hard difficulty, though, on normal it's far too easy. This game is exactly what I was looking for when I got it: Quirky and black humour in the vein of Fallout, cool alien landscapes, entertaining quests and fun gunfights.
